On April 16, 2018, the Forever Young Foundation will hold the Steve Young Desert Classic at the Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. As part of this event, several MLB, NBA, and NFL players will join Steve Young for a celebrity golf tournament on the club’s Monument Course. Other attendees may sign up for the event as sponsors. The Desert Classic features five levels of sponsorship, which range from $1,000 to $25,000 in support. With donations of $2,500 or more, individuals get to participate in the tournament. Following the Desert Classic, the Forever Young Foundation will host an event at the CrackerJax Family Fun and Sports Park. Proceeds from the entire event will benefit the work of both the Forever Young Foundation and the Anasazi Foundation.

In 1997, Max F. James co-founded American Kiosk Management, a specialty retail company that provides retail management services to kiosk and cart businesses operating in malls. Outside of his professional life, Max F. James contributes regularly to causes close to his heart, including his alma mater, the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), for which he serves as a founding director of the endowment. The USAFA Endowment was established to raise funds in support of Air Force Academy programs that would not receive full support from the government. Donors may structure their donations as annual gifts, estate gifts, memorial gifts, funds directed to a specific purpose, or in-kind gifts of assets or property. Donations to the endowment have been used to enrich the academy curriculum and cadets’ experiences through various programs and offerings, including international immersion trips, character and leadership programs, competitive academic teams, and cadet clubs. In 2016, funds raised by the USAFA Endowment were used to open the Center for Character and Leadership Development (CCLD). The CCLD serves as an education center and think tank with the aim of instilling in cadets the Air Force’s core values, leadership skills and practices, and character traits. A graduate of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Max F. James founded American Kiosk Management In 1997. Also an active supporter of various charitable organizations, Max F. James was honored by the Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) as the Philanthropist of the Year for Northern Arizona. From chapters throughout the United States, Boys and Girls Clubs offer programs and services that help young people succeed academically. Additionally, BGCA encourages healthy lifestyles through programs such as Triple Play, a comprehensive health and wellness strategy for youth aged 6 to 18. Created with input from respected medical and fitness professionals as well as the Department of Health and Human Services, the holistic approach aims to strengthen the minds, bodies, and souls of young people. The program educates youth on topics such as food choices and portion control, how to incorporate physical activity into daily life, and the importance of positive interpersonal relationships. A US Air Force veteran, Max F. James is a recipient of the US Air Force Academy (USAFA) 2010 Distinguished Graduate award. Max F. James has maintained an association with the USAFA by committing more than $2,5 million to the academy’s Center for Character and Leadership Development. The USAFA Center for Character and Leadership Development was established with the mission of instilling moral values in cadets in order to guide them through all aspects of their life. The programs and activities in the center are designed so that the cadets organically learn to honor the Air Force’s core values of honesty, self-sacrifice, duty, respect, and courage. The center operates through its four divisions: - The Honor Division promotes the honor code of the USAFA. The honor code is based on the fundamental principles of honesty, respect, fairness, and support. - The Cadet Development Division focuses on developing, delivering, and evaluating character and leadership programs for the cadets. - The Scholarship and Innovation Division fosters character and leadership research at the USAFA by sponsoring scholarly research and publications and conducting various assessments. - The Event Division is responsible for extending the outreach of the center through various activities and programs, such as workshops, lectures, and other learning opportunities. A graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Max F. James is the founder and chief executive officer of American Kiosk Management and a philanthropist committed to various causes in northern Arizona. Max F. James also supports the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, which honored him as the Philanthropist of the Year for Northern Arizona. Committed to helping young people succeed, Boys and Girls Clubs across the United States provide a number of programs and services aimed at boosting academic success and encouraging healthy lifestyles. Among the organization’s health and wellness programs is its cyber safety course, which addresses some of the challenges associated with Internet use among young people. The course teaches students to maintain a safe, healthy online presence, whether in social media or text messages. Particularly, the program discusses cyberbullying and offers resources to help young people practice Internet safety. Owner and founder of American Kiosk Management, LLC, and North American Kiosk, LLC, Max James received the United States Air Force Academy Distinguished Graduate Award in 2010. Max James recently completed an eight-year stint as chairman of the committee for the development of the U.S. Air Force Academy’s Center of Character and Leadership Development (CCLD) building. Completed in July 2016, the CCLD building was created on the grounds of the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. With more than 46,000 square feet, the building has for the most part just one floor, but the ceiling reaches 150 feet high. One of the stunning features of the CCLD building is its glass skylight in the shape of the vertical stabilizer tail fin of a airplane and that points toward the North Star, Polaris. The skylight has steel plates arranged in a triangular grid and acts like a solar chimney to take away hot air in the summer. The building’s oversized chandelier consists of mirrors that reflect LED lights around the ceiling, illuminating the skylight in the evening. Other features focus on sustainability and include a radiant heating and cooling system, high-efficiency air-conditioning units, and ample natural light. Founded by philanthropist and entrepreneur Max James, Camp Soaring Eagle gives children with serious illnesses a chance to experience camp free of charge and under the supervision of medical staff. The camp is made possible by the Max F. James Family Foundation, and offers a variety of programs for children with illnesses and their families.
While anyone interested in supporting Camp Soaring Eagle can help out with a donation, the camp also seeks out committed volunteers to help with its camp programming. People with a passion for working with children can volunteer as unit leaders, who both lead and mentor a group of campers and ensure their safety throughout the day. Those with experience in arts and crafts, fishing, archery, or horseback riding can offer their skills as activity leaders in those areas. While working as a volunteer can be demanding and requires a lot of energy, the rewards are great, as the campers leave Camp Soaring Eagle feeling more confident and better able to meet challenges and make friends. |
